FOR OPERATORS · WHY REGISTER

You contribute observations. You get five things back.

"Free writes" only means we don't charge you — it isn't a benefit. These are: every item below is verifiable on the spot.

First, what we don't do

CVIN doesn't score you, rank you, or recommend you to lenders. Records are facts only: which device, observed when, from which source. Counterparties judge for themselves — and because we don't grade, the badge you display is worth something.

01

An embeddable badge for your own sales page

Every registered device gets a publicly verifiable badge. Put it on your price sheet, rental listing or quote — buyers click through to a public history instead of a sentence you wrote about the machine.

The badge shows facts: registration status, observation count, identity level (L0/L1/L2). It answers the question buyers hesitate to ask — "how many hands has this card passed through?"

02

Lower audit and diligence cost: free self-serve export

You no longer need to assemble a separate evidence pack for lenders, insurers or large customers. With an operator-bound key, export every device you registered plus the raw records — free:

bash
# Device inventory (CSV, opens in Excel)
curl -H "x-api-key: $CVIN_KEY" "https://cvin.org/v1/operator/export" -o my-devices.csv

# Raw records (JSON, each hash independently recomputable)
curl -H "x-api-key: $CVIN_KEY" "https://cvin.org/v1/operator/export?format=json" -o my-devices.json

Export is free while third-party queries are paid: pricing targets the beneficiary (a lender checking someone else's card), not the operator getting its own records back. The operator binding is set when an admin issues the key — it answers "which devices are mine".

03

Get indexed in the public model directory

Registered devices roll up into the model directory. Buyers, used-hardware shoppers and AI assistants searching "how to check an H100's history" land on those pages — with your devices in the record counts.

Not an ad slot: we don't rank or label anyone "recommended". Visibility follows from having records.

04

Near-zero onboarding: no changes to your ops stack

bash
curl -O https://cvin.org/cvin_onboard.py
printf '%s\n' SN001 SN002 SN003 > serials.txt
CVIN_OPERATOR=your-cloud python3 cvin_onboard.py

# Continuous mode: pull telemetry via nvidia-smi and submit signed observations
CVIN_OPERATOR=your-cloud python3 cvin_onboard.py --watch --interval 3600 --print-unit

Batch once, or run --watch so registration becomes a by-product of telemetry collection rather than an extra chore. --print-unit emits a systemd unit. Report every 1–6 hours — enough to prove continuity, quiet enough to ignore.

05

Free writes, and three hard promises about your data

PromiseWhat it means
Serials stay in your facilityThe server only ever sees a 16-character SHA-256 truncation. No endpoint reverses it. Browser tools and CLI scripts hash locally.
Writes are free foreverRegistration, telemetry, liens and pools cost nothing to write, and never will. Charging happens only on the third-party query side.
Records are append-onlyThe registry is a hash chain nobody — including us — can edit or delete. That's not a limitation; it's why the badge means anything.

Conflicting declarations? Both stay, with a public conflict marker, and counterparties weigh them. We never delete the inconvenient one.

06

When you can't report, others can observe

A history doesn't have to come from the owner alone. Inspectors, third-party auditors, managed-hosting ops and scheduling platforms can submit observations under their own operator name and source URL, tagging attrs.observer_type (inspector / auditor / scheduler / holder).

Cross-observation is what defeats forgery: single-party claims stay at L0; only cross-operator agreement plus hardware-root signatures or on-site observation reach L1/L2. Third-party records don't bypass you — they thicken your evidence.

07

How to start

  1. Compute the CVIN locally (self-check tool or the script — the serial never uploads);
  2. Submit a declaration (free, no account needed; ask for an operator key above 12 devices);
  3. Turn on continuous reporting (--watch) and let the history thicken.
