DISPUTE · FREE TO FILE
Something in the record is wrong?
Records are append-only — that is the promise that makes them worth citing, and its price is that a wrong record cannot be deleted. So there has to be a formal way to flag it. A dispute never erases the original observation; it makes the disagreement permanently visible on the device page.
Three rules, stated up front
- No deletion, no edits. We only append a correction or an explanation. An editable history is worthless to every registrant, so we don't offer one.
- Free to file, always answered. Reply within 7 business days to the email you leave. Only a masked address is shown publicly.
- We do not adjudicate. CVIN records facts; it does not decide who is right or produce a credit conclusion. A dispute is itself just a recorded fact — that someone objected.
Right now: 0 dispute records, 0 open. Every one is verifiable in the public ledger

What happens next
| Outcome | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Correction appended | The dispute is upheld. A corrected observation is appended with its source; the original stays in the history. |
| Explained | The data is accurate but needs context (e.g. the same machine was re-listed). A note is attached. |
| Not upheld | The record is supported by its source. We reply with the evidence and mark the outcome publicly. |
All three outcomes stay on-chain, including yours — a dispute cannot be withdrawn either. Files are rate-limited to 6/hour per IP; bulk disputes for a whole fleet go through enterprise.
